Lainey Wilson Drops ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ As New Single [WATCH]

Lainey Wilson  has a new single out, just in time for summer. The reigning ACM Female Artist of the Year announces “Watermelon Moonshine” as her new single, following the success of her recent No. 1 hit, “Heart Like A Truck.” Both songs are from her 2022 album, Bell Bottom Country. Wilson wrote “Watermelon Moonshine” with Jordan Schmidt and Josh Kear.

“I’m so excited to announce ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ as my next single,” Wilson says. “This song embodies what country music means to me, creating a timeless story that will resonate with people for generations to come. This song is about the crazy, young, nostalgic love we all hope to experience.”

Wilson, who won a total of four trophies at the recent ACM Awards, also celebrated another No.1  hit this year, with her “wait in the truck” duet with HARDY. The Louisiana native worked hard for a lot of years to have any success in country music at all — a slow climb that Wilson is now grateful she experienced.

“When I moved here, I thought, ‘Dang right. I’m about to get me a record deal,’” Wilson tells Apple Music Country’s Trailblazers Radio with Fancy Hagood. “When I found out what a publishing deal was, because I didn’t even know those existed. I just remember thinking, ‘I’m going to do it. It’s not going to take me long.’ And then here we are 12 years later, but I’m glad, I’m thankful for every single good thing and bad thing that’s led me to here, because I don’t know if I’d be as appreciative of the moments.”

Fortunately for Wilson, her perseverance paid off, since by her own admission she didn’t have a backup plan.

“I wrote my first song at 9 years old. I’m … 31 years old this year, and it’s like I’ve been preparing ever since I was 9 years old,” Wilson says. “I’ve known that this is my calling, and there’s nothing else that I want to do, that I can do, and I’ve always just kind of been like, “No Plan B, this is it.’

“I feel like that time that I’ve had to prepare, I don’t know… If it happened when I wanted it to, I don’t know that I would have been ready,” she adds.

Wilson will join Luke Combs for select dates on his World Tour this year, as well as playing fairs and festivals, and headlining her own shows. Find “Watermelon Moonshine” and all of Wilson’s music and tour dates at LaineyWilson.com.
