2023 CMT Music Awards: Lainey Wilson Performs ‘Heart Like A Truck’ [WATCH]

Lainey Wilson had a lot of time on stage at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. The Louisiana native won two trophies, for both Collaborative Video of the Year, for her “wait in the truck” duet with HARDY, and Female Video of the Year, for her current single, “Heart Like A Truck.” Wilson also performed “Heart Like A Truck” during the live broadcast of the ceremony.

Ahead of her performance, Wilson said she was grateful to take the stage not only for her to have her moment, but for her band as well.

“If we have an opportunity, they say, ‘Tell me when to be there and how to get there,'” Wilson told CMT. “It’s just going to be a powerful performance. There’s gonna be some fire.”

The video for “Heart Like A Truck” was filmed, written and directed entirely by women, an accomplishment that made her Female Video of the Year win that much sweeter.

“My heart’s about to beat right out of my chest, I’ll be honest with y’all,” Wilson said when accepting her trophy. “This song right here is about finding freedom and strength. It’s about not being afraid of the scratches and the dents and the bumps along the way. We all got a story to tell, and I’m so proud of this music video. It was filmed, produced, written and directed by all women … and it is so wild. I just want to say first of all, thank you Jesus, for this opportunity.

“And I want to say, thank you CMT for literally believing in me before a lot of folks did,” she continued. “But I also want to say thank you so much to the fans. I feel like I’m watching my dreams come true right before my eyes, truly. This is for y’all. I love y’all so much. God bless y’all.”

In addition to “Heart Like A Truck,” Wilson also sang “You Oughta Know” with Alanis Morissette, Ingrid Andress, Morgan Wade and Madeline Edwards. Watch that performance here.

Wilson has two of the five songs in the Top 5 right now. “Heart Like A Truck” is currently at No. 2, while “wait in the truck” is at No. 5.  Her debut single, “Things A Man Oughta Know,” went straight to No. 1, and earned her an ACM Award for Song of the Year. She also won two CMA Awards for Female Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year, and recently had another No. 1 hit with Cole Swindell on “Never Say Never,”
