Scotty McCreery Hints at Something Big Coming This Fall

The sky is the limit for Scotty McCreery, as his career continues to soar to new heights. The American Idol alum, currently on the road with Brooks & Dunn, on their REBOOT 2023 Tour, hints that he has something big — really big — planned this fall, which he can’t quite announce yet.

“We’ve got some cool stuff that I’m looking forward to, that are different, bigger things than I’ve done before,” McCreery hints on Country Countdown USA, adding that it’s already “on the books,” but he isn’t sure what he can announce yet.

“There’s one I’m really looking forward to in a football stadium that’s gonna be a special event,” he adds. “I’m just teasing you here because I don’t think I can say it yet. That’ll be a special one.”

McCreery is also hard at work on his forthcoming fifth studio album, which he says is where his next single will come from.

“I’m thinking the next single will be from a new album, out to radio,” McCreery reveals. “We’ve written so much new stuff, and I’ve been living with it now, listening to demos in my truck. I just feel like for me personally, I think I’m ready for the next chapter. … We’re over halfway done, as far as cutting songs for the album. I”m still writing a bunch, and gathering songs. But that first batch, I was really pumped about. So I’m excited about the songs.”

The new set of tunes will mark McCreery’s first release since becoming a father, a milestone that will weave its way through the entire project.

“I think the perspective is just different,” says the singer. “Whether I’m writing a song, like a baby song — there’s definitely going to be a baby song at least on this, maybe multiple. But I think every song in some way, shape or form, has been inspired by him, or just a new perspective that I have on life, and little things that I’ve got to be thankful for.

“I just feel like everything that I’m writing nowadays is somehow influenced by the last six, seven months of raising him and starting a family with Gabi.,” he remarks. “It’s a good place to be. I feel like I’ve got a lot of ideas, and a fresh kind of start for writing songs.”

McCreery will have another big celebration this fall besides his mysterious event at a stadium. The 29-year-old was just announced as one of the inductees into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.

“Anyone that knows me knows how proud I am to be from North Carolina,” McCreery says. “It is an honor to be recognized by the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and included with this great 2023 class of artists. It’s also a bit surreal knowing I will be joining some of my musical heroes who are already in the Hall, such as Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Daniels, and James Taylor, as well as friends like Eric Church and Kellie Pickler. I am truly thankful.”

McCreery has had five consecutive No. 1 hits, and currently has another Top 5 single with  “It Matters To Her.”

“It’s a song that I love,” McCreery previously  told Everything Nash of “It Matters to Her.” “And it’s a message I think needs to be heard, and it’s coming off of my biggest song to date with ‘Damn Strait.’ So it’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there …  to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces. It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd. And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”
