Morgan Myles Earns a Spot In the Top 5 On ‘The Voice’

Morgan Myles is heading into the finale on The Voice! The powerful singer, on Camila Cabello’s team, earned a spot in the finale, after her cover of Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” from A Star Is Born. Myles dedicated the performance to her late cousin, Mac, who passed away in 2019 from glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.

“We were thick as thieves, me and Mac,” Myles told People following her performance. “So it just was a lot. When you lose people like that, it changes the dynamic of your family forever, and it’s a struggle. It still burns that hole in our hearts.”

Myles somehow maintained her composure until the end of the song when she was overcome with emotion. The rising star credits her ability to sing without dissolving into tears to the fact that she also performed at Mac’s funeral.

“That was probably good practice,” Myles reflects. “I remember staring at the stained glass in the church, just being like, ‘I am in another world. I’m just gonna sing and get through it.'”

As Myles heads toward the finale, whether or not she is crowned the Season 22 winner, Myles’ goal remains the same for her music.

“I ultimately just wanna be a vessel,” Myles maintains. “I feel like God gave me a gift and that it’s for me to deliver that feeling that we’re not alone in the struggles of life. I want people to feel like they can get through [anything].”

Myles earned the first four-chair turn of the season with her performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” during her blind audition. The Pennsylvania native had already been performing and touring for 16 years when she decided to compete on the reality TV talent show.

“There were days I was just about to lose it but I’ve been very blessed because my parents have been my rock in a really, really hard industry,” Myles said at the time. “So many Voice artists have made it. I hope I can use this platform to be a successful artist as well. I think the whole experience is going to be fun.”

In addition to Myles, the other finalists are Bodie, Brayden Lape and Bryce Leatherwood, all on Blake Shelton‘s team, and Omar Jose Cardona, on John Legend’s team. The finale will air on December 12 and 13 at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.
