Jo Dee Messina Praises Reba McEntire After Opening 2 Shows For Her

Jo Dee Messina crossed a big item off of her bucket list over the weekend, when she opened two shows for Reba McEntire, as part of McEntire’s Reba: Live in Concert Arena Tour. The “Bye, Bye” singer performed in both Columbus, Ohio, and Raleigh, North Carolina, dates that McEntire rescheduled from early November, due to vocal problems.

“Walking off the bus, we stepped into a well-oiled machine of kind, gracious and professional personnel,” Messina boasts. “Reba and her entire organization were such a joy to be around. The audiences were incredible and sharing a stage with Reba McEntire is beyond anything I could’ve dreamed of. I’m still pinching myself over the past weekend.”

Messina’s love of McEntire and her music runs deep. The 52-year-old shared a video of her singing McEntire’s “Whoever’s in New England,” when she was just a young teenager.

Messina also recently posted a video of her, in McEntire’s home state of Oklahoma, performing a snippet of the song that turned Messina on to country music.

“We played this in Oklahoma (home of Reba McEntire) a couple of months ago,” Messina shares on social media. “I shared the impact she had on me growing up in New England. It’s not perfect, but we pulled it off enough to get the point across.”

Messina recently got to perform with another country music star, Cole Swindell, at the 2022 CMA Awards. Messina joined him for a surprise performance of  “She Had Me At Heads Carolina,” a new take on her “Heads Carolina, Tails California.”
