Morgan Wallen Honors His Mother With ‘Thought You Should Know’ Video [WATCH]

Morgan Wallen is honoring his mother, Lesli, in the video for his latest single, “Thought You Should Know.” The song, from his forthcoming next album, was written by Wallen, along with Miranda Lambert and Nicolle Galyon.

“Wanted to remind y’all how grateful I am for you, for my family, my mama and our good Lord,” Wallen said when the video was released on Thanksgiving Day. “Y’all have really made this a special year for me…”

Wallen begins the video with his family singing “Happy Birthday” to him when he is just a toddler, and continues with snapshots of his childhood throughout the video, as Lesli looks on.

Lesli first heard the song in May, and admits the tune made her emotional, as Wallen sings lines like “I thought you should know / That all those prayers you thought you wasted on me / Must’ve finally made their way on through / I thought you should know / I got me a new girl down there in Jefferson City, and / She lets me fish whenever I want to.”

“The first time I heard [the song], I cried, and of course, I was just so humbled that he would do that for me,” Lesli told Entertainment Tonight. “The second time I heard it, I said ‘Who’s the girl from Jefferson City?'”

The Tennessee native recently revealed that he had cut back on his drinking, and was performing sober at most of his shows.

“I think we played probably 75 shows, something like that this year, and I did them all mostly in a sober state of mind,” Wallen told Extra. “I was really, really focused. I kind of treated it like an athlete would a season, and I think that was really key to me. I feel like I really thrived in that, so I think that’s really stood out to me.”

Wallen’s The Dangerous Tour has wrapped up, which means he is now looking to a new record, and a new tour.

“I don’t have anything set in stone, but we’ve been snooping around the stadiums,” Wallen told Lon Helton, on Country Countdown USA. “I haven’t completely figured out what I want my show to be like in that setting. But it’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about.”
