Scotty McCreery Celebrates ‘It Matters To Her’ Striking Gold

Scotty McCreery has just achieved yet another career accolade. The North Carolina native’s “It Matters To Her” single was recently certified gold, with McCreery celebrating the milestone during a recent Grand Ole Opry performance.

“I am thankful to my fans and my team anytime a song of mine is certified Gold,” McCreery says. “I don’t take it for granted. But, to be presented a Gold album plaque for ‘It Matters to Her’ on the Grand Ole Opry stage is something I will always treasure.”

McCreery wrote “It Matters To Her” with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller. The song, from his 2021 Same Truck album, was inspired by craving more time with his wife, Gabi.

“It’s a song that I love,” McCreery told Everything Nash when it was released. “And it’s a message I think needs to be heard, and it’s coming off of my biggest song to date with ‘Damn Strait.’ So it’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there …  to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces. It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd. And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”

The “It Matters To Her” certification comes after McCreery celebratedFive More Minutes,” the first of his five consecutive No. 1 hits, earning Triple Platinum certification, and “Damn Strait” earning Platinum certification.

“I’ve always said that ‘Five More Minutes’ is my favorite song I’ve ever written,” McCreery said at the time. “For it to become my first Triple Platinum single means it has really connected with the fans, and as a songwriter that’s what you hope for. ‘Damn Strait’ is one of the most fun songs I get to sing live each night. I’m excited to see the success of both of these songs recognized by the fans and the RIAA.”

The 29-year-old is back at radio with “Cab In A Solo.” The song, already in the Top 40 and climbing, is the debut single from his forthcoming new album.

“I’m pumped about this thing,” McCreery tells Everything Nash, speaking of his next record. “It’s a little different for me, a touch. I feel like a lot of my other records were very autobiographical. This one has a couple of those songs. There’s a song for Avery. There’s a song for Gabi. But we’re kind of going in some different directions on this record. Some heartbreak, and some breakup songs. Some honky-tonking songs, and stuff I really haven’t done before on records.

“But I grew up loving those kinds of songs, so we just kind of let the guitar take us to where it wanted to when we were writing these songs, and this is where we ended up,” he adds.

A title or release date for his new project has yet to be announced. McCreery just announced plenty of fall tour dates, which include several dates with rising star, Dylan Schneider. Find all of McCreery’s music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
