Scotty McCreery Drops Personal ‘Small Town Story’ From Deluxe Album [LISTEN]

Scotty McCreery is telling his story in “Small Town Story.” The feel-good song is from his forthcoming Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, out on November 18. McCreery wrote the song with Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, one of six new tracks on his forthcoming new project.

The 29-year-old revealed that all of the songs on his new deluxe album, including “Small Town Story,” were originally slated for his 2021 Same Truck album.

“We had more songs I loved ready for the original release of Same Truck than we could put on that album, so I am pumped that Triple Tigers asked me to do a Deluxe Edition where I could add six more songs,” McCreery says. “We’ve also had a lot of requests for a vinyl version of Same Truck over the last year, so I’m excited we can offer that option as well.”

McCreery previously said that all of the songs that he wrote for Same Truck were a direct result of his time off the road, and home with his wife, Gabi, during the pandemic.

“I had the time to really sit back and reflect, and think about things that are important to me, really for the first time, since I was 15 or so,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “I had that time to do that. I think that put me in that mindset for writing some of these songs, and the perspective in some of these songs. My previous albums were very much more looking ahead. This one’s being grateful and looking back, and taking it all in.”

McCreery has plenty to celebrate besides new music. The American Idol alum recently became a first-time father, with the arrival of his son, Merrick Avery, on October 24.

“Next to his mother, he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” McCreery said when announcing the good news. “We have been waiting and preparing all year, and now we are so excited to have our little man here with us. We have begun a grand new adventure that will continue for the rest of our lives.”

“Gabi was a total rock star during Avery’s birth. I could not be more proud of her,” he added. “She has already taken to motherhood like a champ. Part of my joy as his Dad is watching Gabi already crush it as his Mom.”

McCreery’s next scheduled concert is on December 4 at the Grand Ole Opry. He will resume touring on December 9, in Roanoke, Virginia. Find music and tour dates at ScottyMcCreery.com.
