Vince Gill Gives a New Update on Amy Grant Following Bike Accident

Vince Gill was recently honored with a CMT Giants: Vince Gill TV special, with tributes and performances by artists like Reba McEntireKeith UrbanCarrie Underwood, Sting, Chris StapletonLuke CombsMaren Morris and more. But one artist who was noticeably absent for the taping was Gill’s own wife, singer Amy Grant, who is home recovering after a bike accident in July left her with serious injuries.

Fortunately, although Grant was unable to attend the CMT: Giants taping, she is on the mend, and planning to be ready to tour this Christmas season.

“She’s doing great,” Gill tells ET. “She’s pretty torn up that she couldn’t be here tonight but with her accident and all of that, they kind of deemed that the best thing for her to do is just be still. That’s hard for her because she is very active. She knows that she is well thought of, well-loved and represented tonight, so it’s all good.”

Although not many details were originally shared about the extent of Grant’s injuries, during Gill’s four-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame member shared more details on her injuries.

“She was unconscious for about ten or 15 minutes. I don’t think they talked about that too much, but that was scary,” Gill revealed.

Grant was unfortunately forced to postpone her fall concert dates, in support of her Behind The Eyes (25th Anniversary Expanded Edition), while she continues to recover at home.

“Amy is getting stronger every day,” Grant’s longtime manager, Jennifer Cooke, said in a statement announcing the postponement. “Just as she did after her heart surgery, we are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina. She wants to be able to give 100 percent when she tours and, unfortunately, we do not think that will be the case by the time rehearsals would start for the fall dates.”

Grant later offered another update, assuring fans she was on her way to a complete recovery.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who has written me a note, sent flowers or gifts, or said a prayer on my behalf,” Grant shared on social media. “I’m one month into a recovery that has held so many unexpected hidden gifts. On the advice of my doctors and other friends who have been through similar experiences of recovery, I am choosing to give myself the gift of a very simple fall season. I look forward to making music with Michael W. and Vince during the Christmas season. With deep appreciation and joy….xo, Amy.”

Grant is expected to be able to tour this holiday season. She is scheduled to join Michael W. Smith for their joint Christmas tour, beginning on November 26. She will also perform with gill for their annual Christmas At The Ryman residency. Keep track of tour updates here.
