Amy Grant Postpones Fall Tour Dates Amid Recovery From Bike Accident

Amy Grant is postponing the shows on her fall tour, while she recovers from a scary bike accident. The Christian music superstar, who was injured while biking in Nashville’s Percy Warner Pike on July 27, was hospitalized for a few days after the accident, before continuing her recovery at home. Although she initially announced that her August concerts will be rescheduled, Grant has now made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone her concert dates scheduled for September and October as well.

“Amy is getting stronger every day,” Grant’s longtime manager, Jennifer Cooke, says in a statement. “Just as she did after her heart surgery, we are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina. She wants to be able to give 100 percent when she tours and, unfortunately, we do not think that will be the case by the time rehearsals would start for the fall dates.”

Fortunately, Grant is expected to be able to fulfill her holiday tour schedule, which begins in November.

“She will resume touring with her Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith and her annual Christmas At The Ryman residency with her husband Vince Gill,” Cooke continues. “Amy would like to extend her gratitude for all the many good wishes and prayers offered since the accident. She feels the impact of the collective good will extended her way. Thank you.”

Gill shared more details of Grant’s accident, while performing during the first of his four-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium.

“She was unconscious for about ten or 15 minutes. I don’t think they talked about that too much, but that was scary,” Gill revealed.

While Grant is understandably disappointed to not be able to perform in front of her fans this fall, she still has plenty to look forward to. The 61-year-old was recently announced as one of the recipients of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, along with U2, Gladys Knight, George Clooney, and composer and conductor Tania León.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever receiving this prestigious Kennedy Center Honor,” Grant says of the honor. “Through the years I’ve watched so many of my heroes serenaded by colleagues and fellow artists, always moved by the ability of music and film to bring us together and to see the best in each other. I cannot wait to celebrate with my fellow honorees, friends and family. Thank you for widening the circle to include all of us.”

Grant’s tour was in support of her Behind The Eyes (25th Anniversary Expanded Edition), which will be released on September 29, marking exactly 25 years to the day since the record was released.

The rescheduled concert dates will take place between February and April of 2023. Tour updates can be found at AmyGrant.com.
