Walker Montgomery Drops Pure Country New Single, ‘Work To Do’ [WATCH]

The visualizer for Walker Montgomery’s latest single, “Work to Do,” is out now, and Everything Nash is getting the first look. The song, which Montgomery penned alongside Adam Wood and Mark Irwin, is an ode to those who use a drink to cure a broken heart.

“You know you go into a bar and these poor ole boys are sitting there drowning their sorrows drinking alone?’ Montgomery reflectsw. “As soon as Adam mentioned that hook we wrote it in about 45 minutes.

“It’s definitely relatable to anyone who’s been through a hard time…everybody’s been through that situation or had that day where you feel like, ‘Damn I just need a drink!'” he adds. “It’s very traditional which is what we were aiming for, and a great song to introduce me to the fans who haven’t heard of me yet I think.”

The son of country music hitmaker John Michael Montgomery, and nephew of Montgomery Gentry‘s Eddie Montgomery, the rising star has had music all around him, for his entire life, but never began performing until he was a teenager.

“I was surrounded by a lot of great things as a kid,” Montgomery previously told Country Now. “And, that’s a tribute to my parents. So, the music thing did not hit me until I was a sophomore in high school. I always enjoyed it, but sports was my main thing growing up. But, at one point, I had a three-piece band. As soon as we did our first show, and the first time I got up on stage with other people and sang, that’s when it hit me. I was like, ‘Alright, this is cool right here.’ So, it was later on in life when the music thing came in.”

Montgomery has a rich musical heritage, one he is determined to carry on into the next generation, on his own merit.

“I want my music to stand the test of time and connect with people no matter who they are,” he says. “I learned from my family that the way you do that is by being true to yourself, and that’s the reason I’m here. That’s the reason I get up every day and do what I do – to help take care of the family name and make them proud.”
