Carly Pearce Announces ’29: Written In Stone (Live From Music City)’ Album

A live album is coming from Carly Pearce! The Grand Ole Opry member announces the release of 29: Written In Stone (Live From Music City) out on March 24. The project, which includes live collaborations with Ashley McBryde, Lee Brice and Matthew West, was recorded during Pearce’s Marathon Music Works intimate concert event in Nashville last year.

Pearce announced the news on social media.

“Surprise! My album 29: Written In Stone (Live From Music City) will be out March 24th AND you can listen to the live versions of ‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl‘ and ‘What He Didn’t Do‘ from the album TODAY,” Pearce tweeted. “Vinyl & CDs available for pre-order now, too.”

The Kentucky native is also working on a new project, which will likely be released this year. With 29: Written in Stone her honest reflections about her heartbreak over the end of her brief marriage to Michael Ray, Pearce is ready to move forward with new music, and away from that painful chapter in her life.

“I just don’t think I can be 29 and divorced forever,” Pearce told Everything Nash in September.  “I’m really excited about it. I write from where I am in my life. So I think that you’re gonna see this new season of life for me, and more confidence in the kind of country music that I make, and really just waving my flag in that.”

Pearce hints that her relationship with her current beau, Riley King, will weave its way into at least some of the songs on her next set of tunes.

“I think you’ll see the beauty of falling in love again, but also the hardships that come with trusting somebody again, and that push and pull of what that looks like,” Pearce said. “So I think it’s gonna be just, you’ll know exactly where I’m at in my life.”

The 32-year-old might be in a different place in her personal life than when she wrote 29: Written in Stone, but she insists that her new record will still be very raw, and very real.

“As a writer, I wish I could go through a divorce every time I make a new album, because it makes you feel so inspired,” Pearce told Grammy.com. “But I think what I learned through making that record is, people wanna hear how I see the world. They wanna hear what I’m going through. From [age] 29 to 32, almost 33, there’s been a lot of life that I’ve intentionally kept more private. [Now], people say to me, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so happy, but we’re not gonna get those Carly Pearce heartbreak songs.’”

Pearce and McBryde celebrated a No. 1 hit with “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” from 29: Written In Stone. The pair is nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 5, at 8:00 PM ET. The ceremony will air on CBS, and will also stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
