Carly Pearce Shares Details Behind New Kelsea Ballerini Collaboration [EXCLUSIVE]

Carly Pearce joins Kelsea Ballerini and Kelly Clarkson on Ballerin’s feisty new track, “You’re Drunk, Go Home.” The song, from Ballerini’s latest Subject to Change album, out now, was an easy answer for Pearce, who agreed to do the track before she even heard it.

“I am so excited,” Pearce gushes to Everything Nash. “You know, I’m always the one that asked other artists to collaborate with me. So when I got the call from Kelsea to collaborate with her and Kelly — it’s such a fun song … And I don’t think that we could have picked any better three women to sing this song together.”

Ballerini says both Pearce and Clarkson were the easy and obvious choices for her to sing with on “You’re Drunk, Go Home.”

“I was looking at my friendships, because I love collaborating with friends,” Ballerini explains on Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “My first call was Carly. And without even hearing it, she said yes, because we just go so far back and we just have so much respect for each other. And we’re sweatpants friends. That’s how I categorize it now. It’s very offline friends as well. And then, I texted Kelly Clarkson the song and she did vocals that night. I’m also just [like], ‘That’s why you’re a superstar.’”

No word yet if Pearce will have any collaborations on her next record. The Kentucky native has a Top 40 hit with “What He Didn’t Do,” the final single she will release from her autobiographical 2021 29: Written in Stone album. Although Pearce hasn’t revealed many details on her forthcoming new album, she does say it is currently in progress.

“I just don’t think I can be 29 and divorced forever,” Pearce tells Everything Nash, explaining why she is ready for new music. “I’m really excited about it. I write from where I am in my life. So I think that you’re gonna see this new season of life for me, and more confidence in the kind of country music that I make, and really just waving my flag in that.”

Pearce will wrap up the 29 chapter with two back-to-back shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on October 26 and 27. She will spend part of 2023 opening for Blake Shelton, on his Back to the Honky Tonk Tour. Find all of Pearce’s music and tour dates at CarlyPearce.com.
