Carrie Underwood’s ‘Hate My Heart’ Video Cures a Broken Heart [WATCH]

Carrie Underwood‘s “Hate My Heart” video is out! The song is from Underwood’s latest  Denim & Rhinestones album, which was released in June.

Underwood shot the video, which shows her getting over a broken heart by — perhaps ironically, attending a Carrie Underwood concert — at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Shaun Silva, who directed the video for her “If I Didn’t Love You” duet with Jason Aldean, also directed this video as well.

“‘Hate My Heart’ is a song about a break-up,” Underwood explains to E! News. “It’s kind of like you’re stuck. You’re just trying to get over this person. It’s like, you don’t really want to be back with them, but you’re having a hard time moving forward and moving on and putting it behind you. The video, we wanted to be helping these girls do that. It’s been a lot of fun to shoot, and hopefully everybody can see little bits of themselves in each of the characters in the video.”

The Oklahoma native portrays several characters in the video, which all relate to who she really is in some capacity.

“My looks today ranged from workout outfit, which is very me, to some denim and rhinestones, which is also very me, to rock star on stage, which is also very me,” Underwood says while on the set of the video shoot. “We went [with] a wide range of looks, but they’re all different aspects of my personality and my life. It was a lot of fun getting to do all of them.”

Underwood wrote “Hate My Heart” with David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey and HARDY, determined to celebrate having a good time with all of the songs on Denim & Rhinestones.

“‘Hate My Heart’ was definitely part of my desire to have fun on this album,” Underwood previously said of the uptempo track. “I wanted songs that would be exciting to perform live and would fill up an arena, and that’s exactly what we’re about to do with The Denim & Rhinestones Tour. This one is definitely going to get everyone up on their feet and having a good time.”

Underwood is joined on the road by  Jimmie Allen, who is serving as her opening act for all dates. Find all of Underwood’s music and tour dates by visiting her website.
