Carrie Underwood Returns to ‘Sunday Night Football’ For 11th Season

Carrie Underwood is returning to Sunday Night Football, for her 11th season. The mother of two sings an updated rendition of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” which she performed at The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, home of her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency.

“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play,” Underwood says. “I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”

“We’re thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season’s show open. It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way,” adds Tripp Dixon,  Creative Director of the Sunday Night Football show open for each of the past 11 years.

Sunday Night Football begins on Sunday, September 10. Highlights from the new show opener will premiere during the Hall of Fame game, which airs Thursday, August 3, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock.

Underwood is currently enjoying a Top 40 hit with “Out Of That Truck.” The song is from her Denim & Rhinestones (Deluxe Edition) album, which was released in June.

“I feel like musically, we wanted ‘Out Of That Truck’ just to feel like … I’m gonna use the word ‘rock’ super loosely,” Underwood says of the song, which she wrote with Lydia Vaughn and David Garcia. “We wanted it to be driving, and guitar-heavy. It’s not an aggressive song at all, so we didn’t want to push it there, but we just wanted it to move and have some energy. I have an affinity for guitars, so it was one of those wanting it to take you somewhere, and you can sing along with it.”

The 40-year-old also just launched her Carrie’s Country radio station, on SiriusXM.

“It’s me, it’s new country, it’s classic country, stuff I grew up listening to,” Underwood told SiriusXM.  I have rock … and hopefully all the rock stuff is people that I obviously have worked with or have covered, but also a lot of country adjacent type things. Like Rolling Stones; I don’t know if they knew how twangy they are. So people like that, hopefully all country listeners will enjoy it, and enjoy maybe discovering new songs. We have some hard rock blocks.”
