The title track of Young’s new album is in the Top 40. The song was written by Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure and Josh Thompson, with the late singer David Bowie also credited as a writer,

“‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ is a song that just kind of fell in my lap, so to speak,” Young told his record label. “We were having some meetings, people were cycling in and out of the Sony building playing songs for the record. Obviously, I write most of my stuff, but not all. You look at the history of my music, you’ll find a lot of songs that have gone No. 1, and been huge hits for me that I didn’t write as well as the ones I did. And this is one that I definitely wish I had written. I just fell in love with it from first listen; obviously a summer vibe behind this one.”

Young is also heading into the new year a bit lighter, after losing more than 60 pounds in 2023.

“I go heavy protein caloric deficit, so I don’t have to not eat sandwiches, which is one of my favorite things in the world,” Young told CMT.

“I am very happy about the fact that I’ve lost that weight, but it was not something that was like a, ‘Hey, here’s the easy catchall fix all,” he added. “The really funny thing is everybody’s been like, ‘Oh, are you taking medication or a shot?’ I’m like, ‘No, not doing any of that. I’m just being really boring and going to the gym.’”

Young’s Young Love & Saturday Night Tour kicks off on March 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will also open for Kane Brown on August 16 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, as part of Brown’s star-studded In The Air Tour.

“It’s Kane’s tour and I could not be looking forward to one tour stop more than I am for that one, because I’ve known that guy entirely too long,” Young told Everything Nash. “I love him like a brother, and that’s why I said yes to it. I was like, ‘That’s gonna be so cool to be able to open for him after he opened for me multiple times.’  I’m super looking forward to it.”
