Chris Young Plans to Have T-Shirts Made With His Mugshot

After being charged last month, with those charges later dropped, Chris Young can almost make light of the situation now. The Tennessee native was charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, after an altercation at a local Nashville bar. Once video footage emerged of what really happened, Nashville’s District Attorney dropped all of the charges.

With a few weeks behind him since the unfortunate incident, Young can now find the humor in the situation — sort of.

“I didn’t do anything wrong, so now it’s just funny that I have a mugshot,” Young told Audacy’s Rob + Holly. “If you don’t think I’ve already started making t-shirts for this, back-up, c’mon. I’m absolutely doing that.”

By his own admission, the situation would have been a lot more dire, if he hadn’t immediately felt the outpouring of love and support from his fans.

“I felt the love, for sure. That’s why we dropped ‘Double Down,'” Young explained. “We really didn’t have any plan to release that song. I was just like, ‘Hey, I want to do something to say thank you for everybody supporting me.’ It was really cool. You always hear about when people hate on artists or hate on this, hate on that, but I really just felt a whole lot of love.”

Young took to social media after the incident to express his gratitude for his fans while he was going through the scary ordeal.

“Hey guys, so I just wanted to say something,” Young said in a video. “You know, I’m still processing a lot through the false accusations and everything that went on in the past week. But I wanted to say first and foremost, thank you to everybody that had my back. It meant the world to me and I had so many friends and fans reach out and say, ‘We got you. We don’t believe you did any of this.’

“So it’s really nice to see the charges get dismissed,” he added. “It’s not something I wish anybody has to go through ever. But, like I said, the bright spot was seeing just all the love and support.”

“Double Down” is from Young’s forthcoming Young Love & Saturday Nights record, out on March 22.

“What I wanted to do as a thank you to you guys – because this was not planned – is drop a new song from the album so you guys will have something to listen to,” Young said when the song was released. “I really hope you guys enjoy this one. Crank it up, enjoy it – I appreciate you, I love you, and thank you.”

Young will kick off his Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour on April 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Find all of his music and tour dates at ChrisYoungCountry.com.
