Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson Drop ‘Never Say Never’ [LISTEN]

Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson‘s new duet is out! “Never Say Never,” which was written by Swindell along with Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill, is Swindell’s 12th single, and follows his recent multi-week No. 1 hit, “Single Saturday Night.”

Swindell and Wilson announced the song on social media earlier this week, along with a comedic video to introduce the tune.

After Wilson posted that “Never Say Never” was officially released, Swindell responded by revealing why he chose Wilson to join him on the tune. The song, which begins with the two singers trading vocals on “I told my mama, I told my friends / When it comes to her, when it comes to him / Never again, last time was the last time / That time nearly did us in, yeah too much drama / Girl, you’re a match, you’re gassing me / We just burned too fast, so here we are / Lighting up that spark, yeah we tried to run / But we didn’t get far,” seemed perfect for Wilson.

“You’re the only one I could hear singing that first line of the song!!” Swindell wrote.

Wilson recently celebrated her debut single landing at the top of the charts, with “Things a Man Oughta Know,” from her freshman Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin‘ album. Swindell, who has had ten chart-topping hits, dropped “Some Habits,” from his upcoming fourth studio album.

“I think a lot of people can relate to a song like ‘Some Habits’ – it’s a love song about being rough around edges but meeting someone that changes you for the better,” Swindell said of the song. “I feel like I have a deeper appreciation for getting to make music these days, especially with this opportunity to be back out on the road performing and sharing this music face-to-face with the fans.”
