New music is finally here from Lainey Wilson! The Louisiana native just dropped her debut album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, co-writing all 12 songs on the ambitious project.
“I hope people can listen to this record from top to bottom and feel understood, accepted and be inspired to be unapologetically themselves,” Wilson says of the project. “I am humbled by the reaction this record has already received and excited to see where this body of work takes me!”
Wilson intentionally bared her heart and soul on Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin‘, even when it wasn’t easy.
“I feel strongly about saying what you think, saying what’s on your heart, but also thinking before you speak,” reflects the singer. “Sometimes it’s hard to be honest, but at the end of the day it ain’t doing anybody any good to not be. Every song we put on the record we basically asked, ‘Is this song saying what I’m thinking?’ If it’s not, it didn’t make the list.”
Wilson’s current single, “Things a Man Oughta Know,” is a prime example of how honest, and even blunt, Wilson is willing to be with her music
“It’s really a song about having good character and a song about treating people the way that you want to be treated — something that we all should know,” Wilson reflects. “It’s about standing up for what’s right. I would like for people to hear that through my music too.”
