Dan + Shay have a new song and video, out now. The duo, made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, released the feel-good “We Should Get Married,” from their new Bigger Houses album, out on September 15, after teasing it earlier in the week on social media.
The video for “We Should Get Married” pokes fun at Dan + Shay’s decade-long history of ballads, which brought them massive success in country music. The song is one of a 12-track project, which both Smyers and Mooney say is part of a new musical era for them in country music.
“This is a brand-new breath of fresh air,” Mooney said on the Today Show. “Dan and I have been through a lot the last ten years, and I feel like this is a new chapter for us, and I’ve never been more excited to put out music. There are songs that mean so much to us.”
Dan + Shay currently have a Top 25 hit with “Save Me The Trouble,” from Bigger Houses. They also released “Always Gonna Be,” which was the first song they wrote together after reuniting, following a four-month separation.
“One of the goals we set was to spend more time together, like we did early on, so we decided to write the next day,” Dan + Shay said as part of a lengthy post shared on social media. “We sat down with an acoustic guitar, and out of the sky fell a song called ‘Always Gonna Be.’ It was the first song we wrote for the album, and will always be one of the most special.”
Dan + Shay recently hinted at a massive tour in 2024. They will also appear next year as the first co-coaches on The Voice, working alongside Reba McEntire, John Legend and Chance the Rapper.
