Home Free is releasing a special song ahead of this Memorial Day weekend. The group just announced on social media that they would release “Travelin’ Soldier,” a Bruce Robison song made popular by The Chicks (formerly the Dixie Chicks), this Friday, in honor of the servicemen and women, who are away serving their country.
“Our new song and video ‘Travelin’ Soldier’ is a tribute to all of the service members who are a long way from home,” Home Free shares. “We can’t wait for y’all to hear it this Friday.”

Home Free also released the patriotic “God Bless the U.S.A.” last year, a collaboration with Lee Greenwood and the United States Air Force Band, the Singing Sergeants.
“To be able to have an opportunity to sing with the original artist, with the songwriter, with the country music legend, Lee Greenwood, and then The United States Air Force Band on top of that at this time in 2020, with so much craziness going on in the world, it’s a pinnacle,” Home Free’s Austin Brown previously told Everything Nash. “It’s a highlight of our career up to this point. This is something that people dream about. We need to bring this song and some love and joy into the world right now, whenever that seems like a rare commodity.
“It’s a blessing,” he added. “It fills my heart, and it feels like maybe what we’re doing has a greater purpose than just sort of making music that people buy. There’s something powerful in that.”
Home Free released several poignant — and personal — songs over the last few months, including “People” with Jeffrey East, and “One Voice” with Billy Gilman.
“It is a powerful song,” Brown said of “One Voice.” Billy Gilman is a remarkable artist, with an incredible voice. A beautiful platform, and he’s got incredible fans. I think, no I know that everyone who watches this video is going to appreciate it. You’re going to find a whole new love for Billy and this song … This is a message that needs to be out in the world. It is an energy that the whole world can absorb and sort of bring back out with even more love.”
