Reba McEntire Keeps Her Fingers Crossed for a ‘Reba’ Reboot on TV

Reba McEntire was the star of the hit TV show, Reba, which aired for six seasons, from 2001 to 2007. The show, which also starred her good friend, Melissa Peterman, was on the WB network for five seasons, and the CW network for one, before the show was canceled. Still, the country music hitmaker would love for the show to return to the air, which sounds like it might be a possibility.

“We would love to have a reboot of the Reba TV show, so keep tuning in,” McEntire said on Talk Shop Live. “Keep up to speed on everything we’re doing. We’re working on it. Hopefully, fingers crossed, somebody will be interested enough, as much as we are, to put it back on the air again.”

Reba might have been off the air for 14 years, but it’s still as popular as ever.

“The reruns run four or five times a day, five days a week,” McEntire says. “We’re thrilled to pieces about the reruns. I get a kick out of them, and I was there. I kind of forget what happened.”

McEntire, who is also rumored to be starring in a TV version of Fried Green Tomatoes on NBC, has not been quiet about her desire to see Reba return to the small screen.

“Well if it was up to us, we would definitely be doing a reboot, ’cause everybody’s 100 percent onboard, ready to go,” McEntire said in 2020 on Good Morning America. “We don’t care if it’s a family reunion, if it’s a two-hour special, or if it’s a total reboot. We just want to get back together, because we have so many more stories to tell.”

For now, the 66-year-old has plenty to keep her busy, including her upcoming box set, REVIVED REMIXED REVISITED, out on October 8. The record includes a duet, Does He Love You,” with Dolly Parton.

“I can’t wait for everyone to hear that,” McEntire tells Variety. “Linda Davis did a great job on ‘Does He Love You,’ but Dolly, there’s just something about that woman that just slays me. She added empathy and sympathy and camaraderie in the way she sang this song. It’s about two women loving or wanting the same man, and you feel for both women on it, I’m so thankful she said yes when we asked her to be a part of this, because I’ve wanted to sing with Dolly forever.”
