Reba McEntire is opening up about her new book, Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots, and the accompanying album. The Oklahoma native says Not That Fancy is light-hearted and enjoyable for anyone, especially anyone who is a McEntire fan.
“The book is a fun book,” she revealed on the Today Show. “Sometimes you have books, autobiographies, that are really diving into stuff. This is just a fun book. You can look through it. You can read it front to back. It’s got recipes, stories, new pictures people haven’t seen before. Talking about my family, my faith, my friends. And then recipes that are from the restaurant in Otoka, Oklahoma, called ‘Reba’s Place.'”
The Country Music Hall of Fame member also recently announced an accompanying Not That Fancy album, to go along with the book.
“It’s songs that I went into the studio with Dave Cobb and re-recorded,” McEntire reveals. “And then we’ve got four new songs, songs that we did later, like ‘Georgia,’ the duet with Ronnie and Kix, Brooks & Dunn. It’s great music along with a fun book.”
McEntire had a busy few days in New York City. After wrapping up her Reba: Live in Concert Arena Tour in Madison Square Garden, she also appeared on The Voice, as a Mega Mentor for all four coaches, including Blake Sheltoon, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan.
“It was so much fun,” McEntire maintains. “That show is a well-oiled machine, and I enjoyed going back after all these years, and getting to hang with Blake and Kelly, and getting to meet Chance and Niall. It was just a really fun time.”
Garth Brooks wrote the foreword to Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots. A track list for the album is available below.
