Scotty McCreery Announces Release of ‘Red Letter Blueprint’

After teasing the song last week, Scotty McCreery announces he is releasing “Red Letter Blueprint” on Friday, March 29. The song, from his upcoming Rise and Fall album, was written by McCreery, along with Derek George, Brent Anderson, Jeremy Bussey and Monty Criswell.

McCreery announced the news on social media, sharing a clip of the song.

The 30-year-old performed the new song while on his Cab In A Solo Tour, which just wrapped up. The song says in part, “Where can you go when you ain’t getting nowhere / And every turn is a dead end road / The rain starts to fall, and you’re so lost out there / There’s only one place I know / When your whole world falls to pieces, and you don’t know how to build it back / There’s a red letter blueprint in King James black.”

McCreery previously said he had a song on his new record about his strong Christian faith, hinting he might do an entire album of gospel songs.

“I would love to make a gospel record,” McCreery revealed. “I think one of my favorite Elvis records was his gospel record. One of my heroes growing up was Josh Turner. As a lot of folks know, he just got a chance to make a gospel record. So, it’s a goal of mine. I’m not sure if that will be five years, ten years, but it’s a goal of mine to be able to do that. I grew up singing gospel songs in church. We just recorded a gospel song to go on the record. That’s what we ended the whole day with, so it’s something that’s important to me.”

Rise and Fall is McCreery’s fifth studio album, and the one he is most eager to release.

“I think this record is for me,” McCreery told WNYT.  “I feel like I’m at a place in my life and career where I don’t want to be chasing trends or sounds. I want to make a record that feels good to me and my soul, and what I grew up loving, and what I want to make. So we sat down, and I told all my buddies, who are my favorite songwriters but just really good friends, I said, ‘I want to write a country album. I want to tell country stories. I want to tell my story through songs.’

“‘Can’t Pass The Bar‘ is just a good, old-fashioned, country barn-burner, and I’ve never done one of those songs, but they’re a big part of country music history, so I’m glad I finally get my own on this record,” he added.

The father of one has also released “Slow Dance” and “Love Like This” from Rise and Fall, plus his current single, “Cab In A Solo,” The record will be released on May 10. McCreery will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Turner on April 20. See a track list for Rise and Fall below.
