The North Carolina native, who also released Christmas with Scotty McCreery in 2012, previously hinted that his next set of tunes would include songs about his son, Avery, whom he and his wife, Gabi, welcomed in October.

“There’s definitely gonna be some baby songs, as you could guess,” McCreery told Taste of Country. “My music for sure has kind of leaned a little bit into that autobiographical stuff. Something that I learned about music is how alike we all are, rather than different. When I talk about my life, I could be talking about thousands of other people’s lives, and they relate to it, too. So there’ll be a lot of life stuff. Just about not taking things for granted, and that’s where I’m at right now — just appreciating this new stage of life, and new fatherhood.”

McCreery’s new set of tunes is in progress as he is celebrating another Top 10 hit, with “It Matters To Her.” The song follows his multi-week, No. 1 “Damn Strait” single, which was also his fifth consecutive chart-topping hit.

“It’s a song that I love,” McCreery told Everything Nash of “It Matters to Her.” “And it’s a message I think needs to be heard, and it’s coming off of my biggest song to date with ‘Damn Strait.’ So it’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there …  to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces. It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd. And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”

McCreery will wrap up his headlining Damn Strait Tour at the end of this month, and then join Brooks & Dunn on their REBOOT 2023 Tour, which begins on Thursday, May 4.  Find all of his music and upcoming shows at ScottyMcCreery.com.
