Dan + Shay Release Fun New Track ‘Lying,’ From ‘Good Things’: WATCH

With only two weeks until Dan + Shay‘s highly-anticipated fourth studio album, Good Things, comes out on August 13, the duo just dropped a new song, “Lying.” Dan + Shay are listed as co-writers on the track, along with Andy Albert, Jordan Reynolds and the late Bill Withers. Dan Smyers produced the track

The duo, known for their movie-like videos, said the video for “Lying” took them to a new place.

“LYING OUT NOW!” Dan + Shay tweeted. “This is the most fun we’ve ever had making a music video. huge shout out to the fam for getting us out of our comfort zone and into our dancing shoes. if we can do it, y’all can too! turn it up, learn the dance, and tag us!”

Good Things also includes “Glad You Exist,” “I Should Probably Go to Bed” and their “10,000 Hours” collaboration with Justin Bieber, as well as the title track of their next record.

“We worked super hard on this project,” Smyers said on the Today Show. “It felt like our first album again, where you have all the time in the world to work on it. We had over a year to work on this album, and just be cooped up in the studio … We’re so proud of this thing. We feel our fans deserve the best, so we pushed ourselves to keep raising the bar.”

Dan + Shay have continued to have chart-topping singles and platinum-selling albums, as well as sell out large arenas all over the country, seven years after their Where It All Began album was released. The secret to their success, both Smyers and Shay Mooney say, is just being who they are.

“Being genuine. We genuinely love what we do,” Mooney said. “We get to play for amazing fans. We like each other, a lot. We’re best friends. It’s not hard; we don’t have to fake any of this. We love what we do. We love to create music together. And like Dan said, we owe our fans, radio, everyone, you guys, to create the best music we possibly we can. We feel like on this next record, we truly reached a next level of what we are doing.”

Dan + Shay will celebrate the release of Good Things with a party at Nashville’s Centennial Park, marking the first time a major concert is held at the outdoor space. They will resume their  The (Arena) Tour, which was postponed last year because of the pandemic. Tour dates and pre-order information can be found at DanandShay.com.
