Kenny Chesney has done it again! The singer’s latest album, Here and Now, landed at the top of the all-genre Billboard Top 200 Albums, marking his ninth time to achieve such an honor. Still, while Kenny is grateful for the success, that isn’t what drives him to make music.
“It’s not about the numbers or the stats,” Kenny said in a statement, “it’s about No Shoes Nation. Even as times change, they want the music –– and I want to get it to them however we can. There was talk of delaying the album release, but with everything else in the world being so unknown, I felt strongly about getting Here And Now to the people in No Shoes Nation. If there’s one thing that holds us all together, it’s the songs – and I had songs on this record I knew they’d take to heart. To me, that’s why we do this.”
Kenny has had to postpone the start of his Chillaxification Tour, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to share his new music with his fans.
“I don’t churn out product so I have something new for the tour,” Kenny explained. “I work really hard to give No Shoes Nation songs that feel like what we should be talking about, things that matter more than just a party, even when they feel like a party – and having [label head] John Esposito and Warner Music Nashville believing in this conversation as much as I do, well, it shows in the way they believed and got a lot of physical music to the people who really wanted those albums.”
Kenny recently praised his No Shoes Nation fan club, with the making of his latest video, “We Do.”
“I always say, ‘If people could see what we see from that stage, from the golf carts swooping through the parking lots, the top of the stadiums and everywhere else, they’d know why No Shoes Nation is the greatest group of passionate, loud, awesome people in the world!’” Kenny said of the song. “And if a picture is worth a thousand words, then here’s a billion of ‘em in this video, set to a song written from me to them. No holding back, just full on here it comes.”
