Matthew West just released the video for “Maker,” one of the tracks from his 22-track My Story Your Glory double album, released earlier this year. The song, which features David Leonard, appears on the Your Glory part of the project.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the new album, and it feels like we are just getting started,” West says. “Our team had a vision to create many different types of content around the songs and the messages of My Story Your Glory, and I’m excited to share this new video with the world for a special song I got to create with my friend David Leonard.
“The story of this song is the story of a God who makes all things possible,” he continues. “It’s about perspective, and how I might see an impossible situation but God sees the breakthrough coming. For anyone staring down an impossible situation, I hope this song and video remind you that nothing is impossible with God.”
My Story Your Glory is a reflection of West’s career and journey of faith since his debut Happy album came out nearly 20 years ago.
“It’s a double album, and that for starters makes me really excited, because it’s more music than I’ve ever put out before,” West explained to Everything Nash. “The title of the album splits perfectly in half those two statements, ‘My Story Your Glory.’ And as I began to think about calling the album that, I began to realize, ‘Oh, this could be the dividing line, like two different concepts in one.’ We’re living in a world where a lot of times people listen to one song from one artist. And my idea was just to be less focused on trying to have a radio hit, and more focused on telling a story from start to finish. And so that’s the idea.”
West is currently on his My Story Your Glory Tour, which he hints will likely continue later this year, in some capacity.
“We’ll probably run it back again in the fall,” West says. “Although it’s gonna be my daughter’s senior year in high school, so I’m probably gonna be a little bit lighter so I can watch her cheerleading squad a little bit more.”
