Scotty McCreery Debuts ‘It Matters to Her (Live From Gruene Hall)’ [WATCH]

Scotty McCreery crossed a major item off of his bucket list in September, when he performed a sold-out show at the iconic Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, and now fans unable to attend the performance can still enjoy the magic. The new father just released a performance video, directed and filmed by his frequent collaborator, Jeff Ray, of him singing his current single, “It Matters to Her.” The song was written by McCreery, along with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller.

“This is our new single out at country radio right now,” McCreery said from stage. “I got about six weeks left until I’m a dad. I’ve been married to my wife for four years. This right here is everything I’ve learned in a song. It’s called ‘It Matters to Her.'”

McCreery performed at Gruene Hall, where George Strait‘’s legendary career began, to celebrate the success of his multi-week, No. 1 hit, “Damn Strait.”

“[It’s like] going on the Opry stage,” McCreery told Everything Nash and other media outlets of being able to perform at Gruene Hall. “You’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, my heroes have played here before that I grew up listening to.’ And Gruene Hall is that same kind of thing. Number one, a lot of other acts besides George Strait [played there]. But George really cut his teeth there, him and his Ace in the Hole band. That’s where they got their start.”

McCreery and his wife Gabi welcomed their son, Merrick Avery, into the world on October 24.

“Next to his mother, he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” McCreery said when announcing the news. “We have been waiting and preparing all year, and now we are so excited to have our little man here with us. We have begun a grand new adventure that will continue for the rest of our lives.”

The American Idol alum recently asked fans to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to honor the birth of his son, instead of sending gifts for the baby.

“We can honestly say we have everything we need and more at this point,” McCreery wrote on Facebook.. “We ask that if you are still inclined to send a gift for Avery, that you consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It would thrill us to know that Avery’s birth helped other kids receive the care they need … If you want to make the donation in Avery’s honor, there is a section that allows you to do that. You can have St Jude send an e-card about the donation to my Fan Club at [email protected] if you want to make us aware.

“Thank yall again for your overwhelming generosity, as well as all the love you send our way,” he concluded. “Please know that we are thankful for all of you and we send our love back to you.”

McCreery will release Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, on November 18. The record will feature all of the songs on Same Truck, along with six new songs, including “Small Town Story” and “Nothin’ Right.” He will perform in Las Vegas on Nov. 30 for the Official NFR Experience, as part of the Official Kick-Off Party. McCreery will also take the stage on December 4 at the Grand Ole Opry. Find music and tour dates at ScottyMcCreery.com.
