Thomas Rhett Hints At Going to Culinary School In the Near Future

Thomas Rhett‘s creative talents extend far beyond his music career. In fact, Rhett hints that he might soon go back to school to get better at one of his favorite pastimes: cooking!

“I would try to get my real estate license, and I would also love to go to culinary school,” Rhett tells BMLG. “I still might one day. I love to cook so much. Like, anytime I’m at a really nice restaurant, I love getting to meet the chef, getting to talk to the chef, and kind of understanding why certain things go together, and, ‘Oh, you chop like that? Let me show you how to really chop an onion.’ Or, ‘Let me show you how to really season a steak.’ Or, ‘Let me show you how to really sear something or smoke something.’

“‘Cause the little knowledge that I have impresses my family enough,” the father of four continues. “But it would be really fun to learn why. So, you can find me at culinary school maybe in the next three or four years. It would be a blast.”

Rhett previously said that he did seriously consider becoming a real estate agent during the pandemic, when he was unable to tour.

“I honestly thought about getting my real estate license,” Rhett said last year. “I’m not kidding. I mean, I had the time to do it and I’ve got a bunch of buddies that do it now. And I love the whole art of going in and getting somebody to really love a home enough to buy it. So, maybe in about 15 years that’s what I’ll do.”

For now, it seems unlikely that the 32-year-old will need a second job. Rhett celebrated his 19th No. 1 hit, with “Slow Down Summer,” and is back with another hit at radio, this one “Half of Me.” which features Riley Green on the track. Both songs are from Rhett’s latest Where We Started album. The success seems sweeter now that Rhett has learned to accept both the highs and the lows of his career.

“I think for so long early on in my career, I tried to make it happen alone,” Rhett concedes. “I thought that if I could just write a better song, or if I could play a better show, that I would be able to do it at a high level. And the anxiety and the wonder of, ‘Is this record gonna do well? Where’s my song at on the chart? How many streams do we have?’ I feel like I did that for like five years, and it was exhausting.”

Rhett is currently on his Bring The Bar To You Tour, which will extend into Canada in 2023.  serving as his opening acts.  Find music and tour dates at ThomasRhett.com.
