Toby Keith Makes a ‘Triumphant Return’ to Performing With Las Vegas Show

Toby Keith is officially back. The 62-year-old performed the first of three performances at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, marking his first major concert event since he revealed in 2022 that he was battling stomach cancer.

“It was a triumphant return. One hell of a night in Vegas. Ready to do it all over again tonight,” Keith said on social media.

Keith originally announced two shows, adding a third when the first two quickly sold out. When announcing his first Las Vegas shows, the singer-songwriter said he was eager and ready to return to performing, after spending more than a year focusing on his health.

“You know what I’ve been doing,” Keith said at the time. “I’ve been on the ol’ roller coaster. But Almighty’s riding shotgun. He’s letting me drive. I’m making a big announcement. I’m doing a little deal — I thought I’d start in the great Las Vegas … I was going to sit around here and do nothing like I have been, or get up and go outside and ‘Don’t Let The Old Man In.”

Keith’s Las Vegas shows are a precursor to what is to come next year, which includes a major tour.

“It’s on the board,” Keith told Taste of Country Nights, On Demand. “They have got a great plan together, and we’ve built a new set, and we’re getting the trucks and buses fired up. Our plan is to go forward, don’t let this stuff define our future — let’s go.”

The Oklahoma native is on the mend, but he reveals he still receives various forms of treatment to combat the cancer.

“I feel pretty good. It’s a rollercoaster all the time with this stuff,” Keith recently shared on the Sellout Crowd podcast. “I have the resources financially and otherwise to get the best treatments I can get. They’re taking great care of me and I’m getting all the latest stuff you can get. In fact, I’m going tomorrow to Florida to see another guy down there, that’s got some other kind of treatments, and I’m trying them all. I’m throwing the kitchen sink at it.”

Keith recently enjoyed a multi-week, No. 1 hit with “Don’t Let The Old Man In.” Keith performed the song at the People’s Choice Country Awards, where Blake Shelton presented him with the People’s Country Icon Award.
