Dan + Shay Announce New Song, ‘Glad You Exist,’ Out Friday

There’s new music coming from Dan + Shay! The duo, made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, announced the release of a new song, “glad you exist,” out on Friday, December 5.

“”To us, ‘glad you exist’ is more than just a song. it’s a message of gratitude and hope,” Dan + Shay said on social media. “A message to everyone in our lives: our fans, our friends, our families, to remind them all how grateful we are to be on the planet at the same time. It’s truly remarkable when you think about it.

“We’ve spent the majority of the past year, like many others, searching for answers and a sense of normalcy, but finding comfort in memories of better days (that we all know will return soon),” they continued. “Concerts, bonfires, road trips with friends, even the simple things like date night at a restaurant, or beers at a bar during a football game.”

Dan + Shay added that “glad you exist” means more to them now, after being forced off the road because of COVID-19.

“This song has taken on new meaning not being able to see our loved ones in person, but throughout history, music has always had a special way of bringing people together, even when we are furthest apart,” Dan + Shay said. “These words hold a special place in our hearts, and hopefully they will in yours too. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again (and again). We’re just so glad you exist. Every. Single. One of you.”

“glad you exist” follows both “10,000 Hours” and “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” and is likely part of what will be Dan + Shay’s fourth studio album. Although they haven’t said much about their next set of tunes, Smyers has said he is working hard on whatever their next project will look like.

“I have unlimited time on my hands to really focus on it and dive in,” Smyers told The Tennessean. “At the end of the day, I don’t want to have anything or anyone else to blame if something isn’t successful. I don’t want to say, ‘Well, we didn’t have enough time to make it.’ No, I have infinite time on my hands right now.”
