Reba McEntire has an unfortunate update on the hopes for a reboot of Reba, her popular sitcom that ran from 2001 to 2007. After saying things were looking promising for a return of the TV series, in some capacity, the 67-year-old says that no longer seems likely.

“Unfortunately not. I thought we were getting really close, but nope,” McEntire shares on Good Morning America. “Not gonna be able to do it right now. We’ll keep seeing if we can get in there somewhere.”

McEntire is still getting plenty of time to show off her acting skills, thanks to her role as Sunny Barnes in ABC‘s Big Sky. The Grand Ole Opry member appears in the TV drama opposite her boyfriend, Rex Linn, who plays her husband, Buck.

“We have a blast,” McEntire gushes. “We’ve been working together since ’91. We were on The Gambler movie with Kenny Rogers in ’91. And then we did a movie for Lifetime this summer in Canada. It’s called The Hammer. And we were kind of like love interests, and now we get to play husband and wife, Buck and Sunny. He makes me rehearse so much, by the time we get on the set, I know my lines, your lines, your lines. But it’s fun. I love it.”

McEntire’s country music career has served as the inspiration for countless country music artists, but it’s movie icons and legendary films that she looks to when she is preparing for a role.

“Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, those kind of movies,” McEntire shares when asked what inspires her. “Because as a matter of fact, the other day when we did the one scene, I looked over at my boyfriend, who plays my husband on the show, Rex Linn, and I said, ‘Was that Bette Davis or what?'”

McEntire just announced the release of Reba: The Ultimate Christmas Collection. The 12-song record will be released on October 14.  Pre-order is available here.
