Reba McEntire Reveals Her Surprising Dream Acting Role

Reba McEntire is getting to flex her acting muscles, appearing in both ABC‘s Big Sky, as well as the upcoming Lifetime TV movie, The Hammer, next year. The 67-year-old has a lengthy list of acting credits, including Tremors, The Little Rascals, her own Reba TV show and more. But there is one film opportunity she is dying to receive, one that might be a bit surprising to her fans.

“I would love to be in a Marvel movie,” McEntire admits to Billboard. “I’m going to leave it open. I could play a hero or the villain, but I think I’d have more fun being the villain.”

McEntire also wouldn’t mind joining the cast of the Paramount+ TV show, Yellowstone, although she has yet to receive an invitation.

“They haven’t [reached out], but I would love that because I’ve always wanted to be in Westerns,” McEntire says. “I’ve talked to Kevin [Costner] about it. Kevin and Rex are close friends, they’ve worked together. But maybe one of these days, I’d love to be in a Western. I just love a new challenge.”

McEntire and her boyfriend,  Rex Linn, started dating right before the pandemic, getting to know each other through what she calls “coffee camp,” even if there were thousands of miles between them. It’s a tradition they continue now that they live together, and both co-star in Big Sky.

“We have coffee every morning and we haven’t missed one since March 2020,” McEntire shares. “We get our coffee, whether we’re still up in bed or out on the patio watching the geese on the river. We’ll get our dialogue and rehearse. I think yesterday we rehearsed for like three or four hours.”

McEntire’s business empire extends far beyond her acting and music. She is also putting the finishing touches on Reba’s Place restaurant in Oklahoma, and has her own line of merchandise at Dillard’s, among other ventures. While her fame could easily lend itself to other opportunities, for now, McEntire is content with what she already has on her plate.

“I think I’m pretty well happy with what I have,” McEntire says. “If you get to doing too many, you get watered down and you lose out on giving each one of those individual attention. So I’m probably spread as thin as I need to be right now.”

McEntire is currently on her Reba: Live in Concert Arena Tour, with Terri Clark serving as her opening act. The Grand Ole Opry member recently announced that she would extend the tour into 2023, with both Clark and The Isaacs both serving as her opening acts. Find music and tour dates at Reba.com.
