Scotty McCreery’s ‘It Matters To Her’ Debuts on Billboard’s Hot 100

Scotty McCreery has a big, big hit on his hands. The 29-year-old’s “It Matters To Her” just debuted on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart, as the song lands at No. 9 on Mediabase.

“It Matters To Her,” from McCreery’s Same Truck album, follows his three-week, No. 1 hit, with “Damn Strait,” which also marked McCreery’s fifth consecutive chart-topping single. McCreery wrote “It Matters To Her” with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller.

“It’s a song that I love,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “And it’s a message I think needs to be heard, and it’s coming off of my biggest song to date with ‘Damn Strait.’ So it’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there …  to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces.

“It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd,” he continued. “And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”

McCreery recently announced on social media that he is currently recording his fifth studio album, which will understandably include some songs about his son, Avery, born in October.

Grown up with yall on these albums. Album 5 started today!

“There’s definitely gonna be some baby songs, as you could guess,” McCreery told Taste of Country. “My music for sure has kind of leaned a little bit into that autobiographical stuff. Something that I learned about music is how alike we all are, rather than different. When I talk about my life, I could be talking about thousands of other people’s lives, and they relate to it, too. So there’ll be a lot of life stuff. Just about not taking things for granted, and that’s where I’m at right now — just appreciating this new stage of life, and new fatherhood.”

McCreery wrapped up his headlining Damn Strait Tour over the weekend with shows in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Hagerstown, Maryland. The North Carolina native will only have a couple of days off the road, before he joins Brooks & Dunn on their REBOOT 2023 Tour, which begins on May 4 in Kansas City, Missouri.
