Blake Shelton Honors Gwen Stefani in Touching Anniversary Post

Blake Shelton honored his wife,  Gwen Stefani, in a touching anniversary post on July 3, celebrating their first anniversary. The 46-year-old shared a photo from the wedding, along with praise for Stefani, on the milestone event.

“Happy anniversary to the woman that makes my world go round,” Shelton wrote. “[Gwen Stefani], because of you, this year has been the best year of my life. I love you!!!! Thank you for saying yes!”

The two singers tied the knot on July 3, 2021, at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. The “Come Back As a Country Boy” singer says hearing her recite her wedding vows to him was one of the most special, and unforgettable, moments of his life.

“The thing that got to me was she spoke about my [late] brother and my dad as if she had known them almost,” Shelton told People. “She didn’t make it seem that way, but it felt that way as she was speaking about them. She said she wished they were there and what kind of men she thinks they must’ve been. Man, it hit me. Like, I couldn’t believe how hard it hit me. I felt like at this point, I’ve kind of gotten calloused. I guess I’m not because that absolutely slayed me. It’s hard to even remember what else she even said. I’ll never forget that feeling.”

Shelton sang his vows to Stefani, in a song called “We Can Reach the Stars,” which is included on his latest Body Language album.

“Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead,” Shelton said of “We Can Reach the Stars.” “I reached out to my buddy Craig Wiseman, who is a world-class songwriter, to help me write and structure something that would stand the test of time. I’m really proud of ‘We Can Reach The Stars’ and I’m really honored to be with her. That’s why we got married in the first place. That’s why we wear rings… because we want everyone to know.”

When Shelton and Stefani got married, he didn’t only gain a wife, but three stepsons as well, from Stefani’s first marriage to Gavin Rossdale. It’s a role he loves, even more than he thought he would.

“Every day, I fall in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen,” Shelton said during a conversation at Country Radio Seminar. “It’s like Disneyland to them when they come out to Oklahoma, because they live in LA. Living in LA has its perks, I guess, but there’s not a lot of room to roam out there. You kind of have your yard or a public park, which these days are not necessarily somewhere you want to go.”

Even with a year of marriage under their belt, Shelton is still as in love with Stefani as ever, and maybe more.

“I wish everybody could have a chance to meet and talk to Gwen Stefani at some point in their life because you’ll just be a better person for it, is the only way I know to say it,” Shelton told People. “She’s just a magical person to be around. She really is one of a kind.”
