Dolly Parton Drops ‘We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You’ [LISTEN]

A new single is here from Dolly Parton! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member just dropped her medley of “We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You.” The song is from her new Rockstar album, out on November 17.

Parton announced the release of the song, one of a few she sings by herself from the record, on social media.

The East Tennessee native is joined by Elton John, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Chris Stapleton, Michael McDonald, Peter Frampton and more on her ambitious 30-track project.

“I’ve got a lot of wonderful iconic songs people love and wonderful iconic singers joining me — like Elton John, who is on one of the songs he wrote,” Parton said on The Rachael Ray Show. “Paul McCartney sang with me …  We’ve got all kinds of wonderful people.”

Parton previously droppedWorld on Fire,” “Bygones,” featuring. Rob Halford, with special guests Nikki Sixx and John 5 and a cover of “Magic Man (Carl Version), featuring Heart’s Ann Wilson.

Parton put a lot of work into Rockstar, but she has a lot more she is also working on. The 77-year-old still has plenty of things she wants to accomplish, vowing to, quite literally, work until she dies.

“I’m not one to sit around doing nothing.  I would never retire,” Parton shared on the UK’s Greatest Hits Radio. “I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday – hopefully one I’ve written. That’s how I hope to go. We don’t have much of a choice in that. But as long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good — the only way I would ever slow down or stop would be for that reason. But in the meantime, I’m gonna make hay while the sun shines.”

Parton’s business empire is already quite extensive, and includes not only her music and song catalog, but her Dollywood theme park, Imagination Library, line of Duncan Hines mixes, books and more. But she still has a lot of dreams she wants to fulfill, and plans to do in her lifetime.

“[I want to] host more TV shows, do more movies, just playing off of what I’ve already created,” shared the singer. “I do want to have my own line of make-up, my own line of wigs, that sort of thing, and clothes. Those things all come under that branding, which we’re doing so much of now. Once you get to a certain place in your career, you get a lot of offers, and some of them are just a little hard to turn down.”

The video for We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You” will be out on July 26. Pre-order of Rockstar is available here. Find music and tour dates at DollyParton.com.
