Scotty McCreery Performs After Historic Sports Event in Nebraska

Scotty McCreery was part of history at a recent show. The 29-year-old performed a concert on August 30, after the University of Nebraska Ladies Volleyball Team’s winning match against Omaha with a score of 3 to 0, held at the Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The event set a new world record for the highest attendance at a women’s sporting event, with a total of 92.003 fans in attendance, for what was called Volleyball Day in Nebraska.

“That was something I will never forget,” McCreery says of the event. “It’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of, and they were fantastic. Hearing 92,003 people sing along and watching them dance and enjoy themselves is something I will never forget.

“Congrats to the Nebraska Volleyball Team on their win and setting the new world record,” he adds. “Those ladies are amazing athletes and it was exciting to watch their games. I thank them for having me be a part of the event!”

McCreery also spoke out about the event on social media, sharing a clip of his performance. The American Idol alum performed his new single, “Cab In A Solo,” along with his five consecutive No. 1 singles, and some of his other biggest hits.

“Nothing like performing in front of 92,003 fans in Memorial Stadium after Nebraska Volleyball wins their match and sets a new world record for highest attendance at a women’s sporting event,” McCreery writes. “Thanks to everyone who came out, and thanks to [the] University of Nebraska-Lincoln for inviting me to be part of Volleyball Day in Nebraska!”

The Nebraska show was one of numerous concert dates the North Carolina native has planned for the rest of the year. He will spend much of the next few months on the road, with his wife, Gabi, and his 10-month-old son, Avery, joining him for many of the dates.

“He’ll have his own little crib and everything,” McCreery previously told Everything Nash, before heading out on tour earlier this year. “It’ll be a completely different way to do the road for me. I’ve been doing it now over ten years. I’ve got my system, so this is gonna throw that for a loop, but I can’t wait. It’s gonna be awesome.”

“Cab In A Solo” was the most-added single at radio when it was released. The song is the debut track from his forthcoming new album, which will likely be announced soon.

“It’s country,” McCreery said on Audacy’s Katie & Company. “Our steel guitar player, Mike Johnson, was in the studio with us, and he’s like, ‘Man, I actually get to play country music this week!’ He was loving it, and I love singing that stuff, so hopefully folks are ready for a little dose of country music.”

McCreery will be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in October, and has also been announced as one of the performers for this year’s Opry Country Christmas. Find music and tour dates at ScottyMcCreery.com.
