Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs Among CMA Triple Play Awards Recipients

Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs are two of several songwriters who will soon receive a huge industry accolade. The two are among the recipients of the CMA Triple Play Awards, along with HARDY, Thomas Rhett, Rhett Akins, Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, Shane McAnally, Jesse Frasure, Nicolle Galyon and ERNEST (Ernest Keith Smith), among others. The CMA Triple Play Award honors the songwriters who had three No. 1 hits within a 12-month period.

Wallen is being honored for “Wasted On You,” “Thought You Should Know,” and “You Proof,” all songs he recorded himself. Combs is also being honored for three songs he recorded himself, including “Cold As You,” “Doin’ This” and “The Kind of Love We Make.”

HARDY is being honored for his Cole Swindell‘s “Single Saturday Night,” along with Wallen’s “Sand In My Boots” and “Beers On Me,” a Dierks Bentley hit that HARDY recorded with Bentley and BRELAND. Rhett’s honors are for Swindell’s “She Had Me At Heads Carolina,” along with “Country Again” and “Slow Down Summer,” both of which he recorded.

Gorley is receiving two Triple Play Awards. The tunesmith wrote six chart-topping singles in the previous year: Wallen’s “Sand In My Boots” and “You Proof,” Bentley’s “Beers On Me,” Rhett’s “Slow Down Summer,” Parmalee‘s “Take My Name” and “New Truck” by Dylan Scott

Other recipients of the CMA Triple Play Awards, include Charlie Handsome, Ben Johnson and Chase McGill.

Both Wallen and Combs are already anticipating a big 2023 as well. Wallen will release his 36-track One Thing At A Time album on March 3, while Combs will release his 18-track Gettin’ Old album on March 24.

“This album is about the stage of life I’m in right now,” Combs says of his new record. “One that I’m sure a lot of us are in, have been through, or will go through,”
